Anne Arundel County, Maryland Inmate Search

Members of the public who wish to establish the current status of arrested or detained individuals in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, may conduct an inmate search. An inmate search is a tool people use to track someone in custody, whether it is a family member, legal client, or an individual of public interest. The Anne Arundel County Department of Detention Facilities (AACDDF) operates the local jails, and all inmate searches are directed to this agency.

Notably, the two major local enforcement outfits in the county-the Anne Arundel County Police Department (AACOPD) and the Annapolis Police Department (APD)-do not maintain separate jail rosters. Individuals they arrest are taken to the AACDDF’s Jennifer Road Detention Center for processing and housing.

People who conduct an Anne Arundel inmate search can typically view the detainee’s personal details, housing information, and bond amounts.

How to Find an Inmate in Anne Arundel County Jail

The Anne Arundel detention centers are handled by the Department of Detention Facilities, not the Sheriff’s Office or the Anne Arundel Police Department. The public can locate the Department of Detention Facilities at 131 Jennifer Road, Annapolis, MD 21401. This address is for the main jailhouse. To find inmates in the county jails, individuals can search the AACDDF’s jail roster online.

How to Use the Anne Arundel County Jail Roster

One can quickly find information on inmates in Anne Arundel County. The official inmate locator, an online jail roster, is accessible to the public. This roster simplifies the inmate search process, avoiding the complexity of tools with numerous search fields. Users only need the individual’s first name, last name, or jail identification number to conduct a search.

Steps for Searching for the Anne Arundel County Jail Roster:

Searching by Name:

  1. Enter the Last Name (Required): Input the inmate’s last name. The field is not case-sensitive.
  2. Add the First Name (Optional): To refine the search and reduce the number of matches, one can optionally include the first name.
  3. Execute the Search: Tap the "Search" button to execute the query.
  4. Locate the Inmate: Identify the correct individual from the list of results. Providing both the first and last name will often yield a single, accurate match.
  5. Record Key Information: Note essential details such as the Jail Identification ID (JID), housing location, charges, and bond amount.

Searching by Jail ID:

  • If the Jail Identification Number is already known, individuals can use this number directly in the portal’s search function as an alternative to searching by name.

After entering the name or jail identification number, the system returns results right away. If a match is found, the inmate’s record appears instantly, including all available public information.

The Arundel County jail roster is free, so users can search as many times as needed for as many names as required. One can also contact the Central Holding and Processing Center at (410) 222-1200 or 133 Jennifer Road, Annapolis, Maryland, for additional assistance.

How to Send Money to an Inmate in Jennifer Road Detention Center

Individuals may need to send funds to inmates housed at the county’s largest detention facility, the Jennifer Road Detention Center. A detained person’s commissary account may be credited with cash or a payment card via a smart device, an online portal, a telephone, or a lobby kiosk. Deposits may not exceed $300 in value.

  • Lobby Kiosk: Kiosks are located in the lobby at Jennifer Road Detention Center. Individuals can deposit cash in $5, $10, $20, $50, or $100 denominations. Deposits can also be made using credit or debit cards.
  • Telephone: Individuals can call the jail’s third-party provider to speak with a bilingual agent and make a phone deposit with any valid payment card.
  • Online: The same third-party provider used for phone deposits is used for web-based payments.

Every transfer to an inmate, whether by phone, web, or in person, attracts a fee that varies depending on the deposit amount.

Friends, family, or other individuals sending money to a detained person must provide the beneficiary’s first and last name or their jail identification number.

Inmate Search by Jail Facility

The Anne Arundel County Department of Detention Facilities uses a unified search system for its two primary jails. The inmate search locator, as described above, provides the custody record for any adult person held in the county’s jail system, whether they are already sentenced or awaiting trial.

However, certain groups with restricted records may require a different search method. For example, the detention records of a minor in a delinquency case are not subject to public viewing. Access is only granted to qualified persons (including a legal guardian or attorney) and must be requested from the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services.
